Emily Dwan

Contemporary Glasswork & Modern Impressionist Painting

Emily Dwan is a Colorado-based contemporary artist whose work explores the relationship between color, light, movement, and the natural world through modern impressionist painting and contemporary glasswork. Known for her expressive use of color and richly textured compositions, Dwan creates vibrant interpretations of the landscape that invite viewers to experience nature through a more imaginative and emotional lens.

Born and raised outside Chicago, Dwan developed an early appreciation for fine art through visits to the Art Institute of Chicago, where the works of Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas left a lasting impression. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Indiana University and continued her studies in Florence, Italy, where she began developing an energetic, intuitive approach to capturing light and movement. Her subsequent years working in Chicago and Denver's RiNo Art District further shaped her distinctive aesthetic, blending classical impressionist influences with the bold color and expressive energy of contemporary urban art.

Now residing in the forested foothills of Morrison, Colorado, Dwan draws inspiration from the dramatic landscapes and subtle rhythms of the Rocky Mountains. Her practice spans large-scale acrylic paintings and intricate contemporary glasswork, incorporating stained glass, mirrors, and reflective materials to explore the interplay of color, texture, and changing light. Across both mediums, her work reflects a fascination with nature's ability to inspire wonder, connection, and renewal.

Dwan's work has been exhibited at the Boulder Museum, and her public art and commissioned projects include works for the International Fire Fighters Association, Denver Chamber of Commerce, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and Aspen Ski Mountain. She is represented by the Telluride Arts Center and Uptripping Gallery, with her work featured in both private and public collections.
