About Emily

Colorado visual artist specializing in impressionist mountain fine art.

Emily Dwan is a modern impressionist painter celebrated for her vibrant color palettes and uplifting, nature-inspired scenes. Born and raised near Chicago, Emily’s love for art was nurtured early by visits to the Art Institute with her grandmother, where she absorbed the brushwork of Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas. She studied Fine Art at Indiana University and abroad in Florence, Italy, where she developed a quick, energetic style, painting the movement of the city. Later, her time in Chicago inspired her with bold urban colors and the rhythm of street art.

Eventually drawn west, Emily transitioned into mountain and nature themes while maintaining the vibrancy of her city years. After nearly a decade painting in Denver’s RiNo Art District, she relocated to Morrison, Colorado, where she now lives in the forest and has taken up beekeeping in her spare time. Surrounded by nature’s rhythm, Emily paints her daily environment and adventures, infusing each canvas with the healing, restorative qualities she experiences in the landscape. Her work reflects a journey from skyscrapers to mountain trails — a lifelong exploration of color, movement, and connection to place.

Emily’s work has been exhibited at the Boulder Museum and numerous juried art festivals across Colorado. She has also created public art installations in Denver and Golden, and has completed commissions for organizations including the International Fire Fighters Association and the Denver Chamber of Commerce.
